There are many tracks through this forest and as a result die back or Phytophthora cinnamomi fungus is wide spread. It is mostly transmitted by vehicles. The small tree in the foreground appears to have succumb to this disease. This area of forest has been logged several times since the late 19C and what is shown in this photo is secondary growth. There are a few stumps remaining of some of the original trees that had diameters four meters, large trees indeed…
