One of the most interesting aspects of travel is to see how older cultures live and construct their homes. Stilo like the thousands of other hill top villages in Italy it is a case of layer upon layer of construction using anything that has gone before to support what is needed at the time. The houses seem to grow out of the hill sides organically making use of whatever the land as to offer. In this instance two homes have been built both relying on the old town wall as foundations.
