Chinese ground orchids two days later…

Lumix G3 f8 1/60s ISO160 Canon FD 50mm macro

I really don’t  have much else to say about my new discovery of the Chinese ground orchid its a beautiful flower and I can ‘t wait to see a whole drift of these flowers planted a garden. However, if the viewer cares to look at my previous post and compare the colour rendering differences between the Panasonic 25mm f1.4 and my old favorite thirty something year old Canon FD macro maybe its mellow with age but the colour is subtler and the details sharper. Emerging Statice…

Olympus PEN EP-2 f11 1/125s ISO100 Canon FD f3.5 50mm Macro

This is another exotic import from the Canary Islands it grows from a woody rhizome that with care can be cut in half and replanted to produce another plant. The leaves are a large ovoid shape and have an almost succulant like feel to them, the colour can vary a bit but generally leans towards a soft blue green. I don’t know for sure but it could be that this particular variety of statice arrived sometime in the nineteenth with early settlers who would have likely stopped off in the Canaries enroute to Australia.
